Frequently asked Questions
1. Will NFL provide temporary accommodations (e.g. hotel) for beneficiaries’ families during the renovation period?
No, beneficiaries have to find their own temporary accommodation. Renovation works can be carried out in a manner that enables beneficiaries to still live in their flat while the improvement work is ongoing (for example, one room at a time). We may, in the future, seek sponsorship for temporary accommodations if necessary.

2. Does NFL help families who dwell in HDB rental flats?
NFL remains open to helping such cases, though there are limits to the modifications that can be made in rental flats. Such applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, and NFL will only undertake what is necessary and does not conflict with HDB policy. NFL can provide assistance with jobs that HDB does not provide, such as re-painting of rental flats and installing vinyl floors.

3. During this Covid period, might NFL face a shortage of available skilled workers, and will this result in delayed commencement of renovation works after linking up with beneficiaries?
NFL requests that SSOs be responsible for managing the potential beneficiaries’ expectations. We ask that social workers help their clients understand that NFL cannot commit to a given timeline, but will help as far as we can, given labour constraints.
4. Will NFL take on smaller scale renovation jobs, e.g. changing ceiling fans and toilet bowls?
NFL will assess the overall scale and cost of the renovation works required. We are not looking to undertake smaller home improvement jobs, e.g. change of appliances, or issues that can be resolved by handymen. Our preference is to take on cases where the scale and cost is evidently beyond the beneficiaries’ financial means.
5. Does NFL accommodate beneficiaries’ design preferences, e.g. colour and materials?
NFL does consider and discuss design matters with clients, and will try to match their tastes. However, choices are subject to product sponsors’ stock availability. NFL does not provide a full interior design service, and no 3D rendering images will be provided. Our main aim is to increase beneficiaries’ quality of life by having a functioning home. Our primary goal is to make the home liveable, and not necessarily to make the home a showpiece. The sponsored items may be basic provisions, or according to the generosity of our sponsors.
6. Does NFL apply any exclusion criteria?
We do not have any exclusion at the moment, but we may develop the exclusion criteria as we gain further experience.
7. Does NFL help with decluttering and home organization processes?

If renovating a home to ensure safety and accessibility for a beneficiary with mobility issues, NFL will find try to find sponsors for the labour to install, and suppliers for fittings and furnishings.
